President Obama's Kansas Ties Presented By Susan Peters

KAKE?s Susan Peters was one of eight local TV Anchors from across the country to be invited to the White House for an exclusive one-on-one interview with President Barack Obama. Although each anchor was limited to just five minutes, the president answered Susan's questions concerning everything from his comments on corporate aviation to his heritage in Kansas.

Before she left, she asked viewers via Facebook and Twitter what they wanted to ask the President. After over 500 responses, it was clear the issue Kansans most wanted to talk about was corporate aviation. Some union members and other aviation workers alike wanted Susan to ask the president about what some consider "disparaging" remarks about corporate business aircraft.

President Obama also proposes to eliminate tax breaks for corporate jets. Several Facebook posts asked Susan to ask the president to talk to laid off workers in Wichita, some who feel that their layoff may have been the result of the president's issue with corporate aviation.

Susan also talked to the president about the upcoming threat of "sequester" and about his proposal for a multibillion-dollar stimulus to rebuild our nation's infrastructure. There are two projects in Wichita on the president's list to be done under that plan.

Susan also had the opportunity to present the president with a DVD she produced four years ago after Barack Obama was first elected. It is the result of hours of research into the president?s heritage in Wichita. She also presented him with a 75-page book with copies of documents, pictures and records outlining his extensive Kansas roots.

She even informed him of a few things he didn't know about. For instance, his great, great grandfather was a physician in Wichita.

Attached are all pieces that aired during Susan's two-day stay in Washington and her exclusive one-on-one interview with President Barack Obama.
